Kristyn Vollmer has been teaching yoga since 2001.  She has over 1500 certified teacher training hours in Bikram Method and the Ghosh 84 Series.  After owning & operating the first full time yoga studio in Fort Worth for 10 years, she went to work with doctors and physical therapists at a neurological recovery center for 2 years, to study the effects of yoga on brain and spine injuries.  The results were incredible.  This affirmed that everyone can do yoga and everyone can benefit.  Kristyn has been contracted by the TCU Athletic Department since 2017 and works closely with several teams and coaches.  Kristyn has practiced yoga since she was young and combines her experience with other styles to create custom designed yoga plans based on individual needs.  

 

STYLE & MISSION

I teach therapeutic, traditional physical and mental yoga.  You can expect a systematic series of mostly static postures. I work in depth on breathing techniques and proper alignment to ensure good muscular habits and natural range of motion.  

 My mission is to help people improve their game and reach for their goals through developing good posture and composure.  I help people build a solid foundation and understanding of yoga postures to incorporate into daily life. 

 

SERVICES

I teach private yoga lessons, by appointment.  I work with all levels and I address unique needs individually.  I like to combine infrared sauna treatments with curated yoga to warm up the body from the inside out first, but that is optional.  The sauna is beneficial for many reasons.  Primarily, it’s anti-inflammatory effects provide healing and repair damage for quicker recovery, on all levels.  The radiant heat helps the mind and the muscles relax before stretching, which promotes calmness and flexibility.  

 

WHY PRIVATE YOGA?  

A regular yoga practice and good lifestyle choices will serve you throughout your life, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  Yoga is a science, like math, it is not a religion.  It requires no belief.  Done properly, it works.  Everybody is different and has different issues.  I will help you identify your tight and spots and work out the kinks.  I will help you strengthen your underused muscle groups and brain cells which will give you more energy.  Private instruction will address your unique needs and ensures good habits and understanding, which you can apply to all areas of your life.  

 

RESULTS

Physically, yoga is designed to align your spine and balance your nervous system.  Everything benefits from this.  Increased circulation is the kingdom of youth and health.  Yoga postures and proper breathing are used to balance and activate muscle groups to hold your skeleton in alignment.  Prevention of injury is achieved by strengthening underused muscles and being more self aware.  This technique also balances hormones and acids in your body, which helps navigate emotions and builds self-awareness.  Yoga opens energy centers and clears blockages from arteries, veins and nerves.  The increased circulation allows increased blood supply to the entire body and brain.  All together it makes you level headed, literally!  The result is a clear strong mind and pain free body.  

Yoga has been beneficial for many of my clients who are student athletes and coaches, as well as clients with sport injuries,  cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.
